Do you feel like your e-mail and other social media are running your life?
This morning, I opened up my e-mail and I had 50 waiting for me! And that’s just at 8am! Throughout the day, I must get four to five hundred! I’m on so many yahoo loops and Facebook groups that it’s starting to be hard to remember what some of them are even for.
Are you feeling the same stress in your email life, or is it just me? Do you feel spread so thin that you struggle with time to write? Isn’t that what this author thing is about? Writing our next book?
So, what’s a stressed out, overwhelmed writer to do anyway? She can’t just cut all ties to the outside world? Trying to find the balance and the margin in all of this social media stuff has been a challenge for me.
Maybe you’re not an author, but your job is such that you, too are on a multitude of chats, on-line workshops, seminars…lists, loops and gobbledygook!
Wikipedia says gobbledygook is ‘convoluted language that results in it being excessively hard to understand’.
It doesn’t quite apply here, but it’s close enough. Besides, I’ve been trying to figure out a way to use that scrumptious word for awhile now. 🙂
So…it’s time to pick up the scalpel and cut some of this excess away.
Those of you who have “been there and done that”, how did you decide what to omit? What criteria did you use to make that decision?
This overwhelmed, curious peabrain mind wants to know. 🙂
